Refreshing welcome drinks and nutritious salads act as instant eye catchers as one enters the premises of recently inaugurated pure vegetarian restaurant Govinda’s. The tagline “the higher taste” literally lives up to its literal meaning. The sanctified vegetarian restaurant is a great place for holistic culinary experience. Food and ingredients are fresh and organic. The delicious food served here is something much beyond, than just being pure vegetarian delicacies. It’s “prasadam” that is, food stuffs are first offered to Their Lordships Sri Sri Radha Krishna and then accepted as the remnants of their mercy. Therefore, this prasadam not only nourishes both body and mind but also soothes the soul of each partaker.
The restaurant is located just outside the temple complex of ISKCON’s New Vedic Cultural Centre at Katraj-Kondhwa by pass, on the left side of main entrance. Govinda’s has a seating capacity of around 70 people in its main dining hall. As per the needs, the verandah outside can also be utilized to accommodate more visitors. This is especially useful during birthdays or similar such parties
The ambience gives an experience of rich Indian Vedic culture. Walls are colorfully painted and decorated. As you enter the restaurant you will be greeted by well-dressed attendants with “Hare Krishna”. Their friendly demeanor will make you feel at home. These attendants keep the restaurant sparkling clean and Soothing kirtan is played in the background exuding a positive vibe supporting a nice atmosphere. The restaurant serves lunch from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. and dinner from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. The Prasadam is served in the format of unlimited, buffet (Self Service).
A typical Govinda’s menu comprises of welcome drinks (fruit juices, Jaljeera etc.), Salads (for e.g. green salad, macaroni salad etc.), Starters like kachoris, dhoklas followed by main course which includes vegetables (such as Paneer Tikka Masala, Veg Afgani, Veg Jhalfrezi etc.), Rice (Both plain as well as special rice preparations), Dals, Assorted Rotis (such as Fulka, puri, chapatti, kulcha, Naan etc.). The last but not the least part of menu is its variety of desserts which includes Ice cream, Rabadi, sweet rice etc.
