Pusyabhishek 2015

_MG_1420

What is the pleasure that the soul is looking for….love. And love is expressed through service. The meaning of service is to please Krishna, the all attractive one. By Srila Prabhupad’s great kindness, he has enlightened us with this most wonderful culture of Krishna Consciousness and to engage our loving propensity in service, he has gifted us many beautiful vaisnava festivals. Pusyabhishek (or Pushpabhishek) is one of such joyous occasions when multitude of devotees come together to offer Their Lordships a unique, once in a year, bathing & decorating with huge amounts of soft, fragrant and colorful flower petals.

_MG_1396

“Krishna was just a toy in the hands of the Gopis, so one day the Gopis decided that we shall decorate Him. Pusyabhisheka means a ceremony to decorate the deity profusely with flowers, ornaments, cloths.” (Srila Prabhupada in a letter to Danavir, 20/11/1971, Delhi)

On 4th and 11th of this month, ISKCON Pune celebrated this amazing Pusyabhishek festival at Sri Sri Radha Vrindavan-Chandra temple (at New Vedic Cultural Centre, Katraj-Kondhwa bypass) & Sri Sri Radha Kunjabihari temple (Camp) respectively. Throughout the day, devotees, gathered together in large numbers, plucked millions of flower petals. The evenings witnessed showering of these flower petals on Their Lordships amidst soul-stirring Kirtan, while hundreds & thousands of devotees & visitors, in a fully packed temple hall, watched in sheer joy and amazement the grandeur of the charming glorification of the Supreme Lordships. Everyone present sang in unison and chorus the sweet mahamantra “Hare Krishna Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna Hare Hare/ Hare Rama Hare Rama, Rama Rama Hare Hare” and the songs like “Phoolon mein saj rahe hain, sri vrindavan vihari/ aur sang mein saj rahi hain, vrishbhanu ki dulari.”

All visitors were served with a sumptuous feast of Paav-bhaji, Masala rice, Firani sweet, Gulab Jaamun etc. We are posting some of the sweetest glimpses of divine celebration, courtesy to our Photography team.

Naad Rang – A unique cultural program by Children

Naad Rang

Performing arts in its various forms, for the pleasure of their lordships has been a very important and integral part of ISKCON. In ISKCON Pune, Bhaktivedanta Kala Kshetra offers this platform under the guidance of Bal Govind Prabhu and team.

Lord Krishna is very pleased when His devotees offer their beautiful artistic offerings to Him and He shows his love for arts in forms like Rasaraj, Natavar, Murlidhar and so on. When lord Krishna appeared as his own devotee as Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu, then also he established Hari Naam Sankirtan as the Yuga dharma and He used to relish sankirtan with his associates for long times. In the same way, many of the prominent Acharyas in Vaishnava Parampara have expressed their feelings in form of devotional songs that inspire millions of devotees now and forever.

New Attraction at ISKCON NVCC: Govinda’s Restaurant – The Higher Taste

Govinda's Restaurant - The Higher Taste

Refreshing welcome drinks and nutritious salads act as instant eye catchers as one enters the premises of recently inaugurated pure vegetarian restaurant Govinda’s. The tagline “the higher taste” literally lives up to its literal meaning. The sanctified vegetarian restaurant is a great place for holistic culinary experience. Food and ingredients are fresh and organic. The delicious food served here is something much beyond, than just being pure vegetarian delicacies. It’s “prasadam” that is, food stuffs are first offered to Their Lordships Sri Sri Radha Krishna and then accepted as the remnants of their mercy. Therefore, this prasadam not only nourishes both body and mind but also soothes the soul of each partaker.

The restaurant is located just outside the temple complex of ISKCON’s New Vedic Cultural Centre at Katraj-Kondhwa by pass, on the left side of main entrance. Govinda’s has a seating capacity of around 70 people in its main dining hall. As per the needs, the verandah outside can also be utilized to accommodate more visitors. This is especially useful during birthdays or similar such parties
